Had a blast
I recently visited Smugglers at 123 S Railroad St, in Eagle River, WI. I visited here during the Cranberry Festival and had a blast sitting at the bar. The place was packed but the staff had it all covered. I met so many nice people. I ordered their smash burger and it was delicious. I watched boxes of jars of horseradish go out the door all day. I got to have a sample.of it at my own risk and to the amusement of those around me. Good place.

AMAZING food!
AMAZING food! If you want a good messy burger, this is your place! Service was great, atmosphere is welcoming and they have cool tables to sit at too. We got the pastrami sandwich and the double smash burger. Both awesomely paired with the coleslaw and potato salad.

Being pregnant I was super excited they had blue moon NA. Fast friendly bar staff. Their smash burger with the steamed bun was AMAZING!!! Potato salad was also good and fresh

We loved it!
This is our second time in a week, we had the pizza the 1st time, and decided to have the burger and at the last minute we ordered pizza again. We loved it! all end pieces and perfectly cooked. Mike and Renee are awesome hosts! We will definitely be trying the burger next visit!

The best food

We just had our first visit here, and it was great!!
We tried 3 items, first was the smash burger, and it was fabulous. It is honestly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. You need to have their special sauce on it. It will really make the burger special. The second thing we tried was the pizza, which was also very good (it had the best crust in the northwoods). Lastly, we tried the Taco special. Those were awesome, too.
Their prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. And both Renee and Mike are great owners & hosts!!
I would HIGHLY recommend that you try this restaurant!!! It is definitely a 5-star place.

Makes you feel welcomed
Smash burger here is one of the best. Chicken pita melt also good as well as their pizzas. A small and cozy establishment that makes you feel welcomed.

Fantastic server.
Fantastic server. We had some pot pie, ham sandwich, kids pizza and Greek flatbread. All was fantastic. Our server was great. Place was busy but that did not deter the fantastic service and speed. The $2 Hamms were an added bonus!

Highly recommended.
Friends recommended Smuggler’s, and they were right. Hamm’s on tap, along with a bunch of other Wisconsin beers. It’s a small, friendly place with a small grill — a dive bar, basically — but the food looked and smelled wonderful. We’d just had breakfast, so we had a big soft pretzel to go with our beverages. The house horseradish mustard served with the pretzel was tremendous. We’ll be back to try the sandwiches. Highly recommended.

Great little spot in town with friendly bar tenders. Good food and cold beer. A regular stop for me when in Eagle River. Try the double smash burger, very tasty.

Total perfect execution.
I’m a trained chef; not easy to please, not easy to fool. Smuggler’s double smash burger ranks right up there with the best burger I’ve ever had. I say this with much regret because once word gets out, I’ll never get another seat at the bar.
And forget any bad review going back more than a year. Mike and Renee(?) new owners are lovely people. But let’s get back to that burger. Double meat, double cheese, seared onions, special sauce, toasted brioche bun. Total perfect execution.

Fantastic food

No doubt the best burger I think I’ve ever had! The bun was perfect, patties cooked to perfection, the sauce is to write home about! Then, you add the Delicious Hamm’s beer on tap, while surrounded by amazing rare Hamm’s advertising, and even better owners and staff! Had a great time chatting with the staff and other patrons, as if we knew each other for years. I would highly recommend you visit Smugglers for a double smash burger and a cold pint of Hamm’s.

Hidden little gem
Hidden little gem in downtown eagle river, Hamms on tap, smashburgers are amazing. Try the horseradish, but be warned it is hot and cleans out the nasal passages. Staff was quick and very welcoming. Thanks!

One of the best burgers I’ve ever had.
This place impressed me. Came with my friend who loves Hamm’s Beer…because this place is practically a Hamm’s memorabilia museum…There is vintage neon and old advertisements EVERYWHERE! It’s pretty neat to see. The owner of the bar definitely loves to talk about Hamm’s and anything to do with it. As for the food, I got a “Smashed Burger” which comes with a special sauce and grilled onions. It was fantastic. Cooked Medium rare with great seasoning! One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Potato salad was also amazing with great seasoning, paprika blend I believe. I also had a Bavarian soft pretzel…and that was also great. You gotta come try this place! Were gonna make reason to stop here each time we’re in the area!

Stopped in for a drink and a burger. The burger the burger the burger!!! if a burger could melt in your mouth, this one did. It was one of the best I’ve ever had. When in Eagle River, find time to stop in or order a burger to go. You will be happy for the rest of the day. It’s that good.

A must if you are in Eagle River! It is a smaller venue so get there early. The owners are so nice and make sure you enjoy your visit. Service was great and the food was absolutely delicious!
